This scientific research paper was written for my Technical Spanish for Health Professionals class, where we focused on advanced language skills and research. The purpose of this assignment was to conduct a literature review on the health care system in Honduras by analyzing its structure, the social security model as well as past reforms, financial constraints, and overall effectiveness of the Hondurean health care system. To see the overall effectiveness of Honduras health care system I included statistical evaluations and compared it to similar countries like Nicaragua and El Salvador. For example in 2020, Honduras public spending on health as a percentage of their GDP was 3.44%, while in Nicaragua it was 5.35%. This paper significantly enhanced my linguistic, analytical and research skills by refining my writing skills specifically sentence structure and requiring me to synthesize complex information. I will use these skills in my future career in the healthcare field because I developed a proficiency in Spanish and familiarized myself with health care terminology that ensures there will be no barrier in providing health care services to diverse patients.
